Ethiopia has a low proportion of secondary-school-age children in education and those that are do not necessarily receive a high quality, engaging learning experience. Rote learning, overcrowding, poor training and a lack of infrastructure are just some of the challenges facing Ethiopian schools. AhadooTec is an organisation trying to change this through its innovative approach to offline and online learning. We’re delighted to be supporting them with a £15,260 grant for Ahadoo’s Fidel learning platform.

Fidel is designed as an online platform, mobile app and offline piece of software. It provides locally relevant, quality educational content for 14-19 year olds to access via a smartphone or through a school PC. With a beta test already completed in three schools, Ahadoo are seeking to expand their reach and make more learning materials available. They will be partnering with three organisations (Camara, British Council and IICD) to reach many more schools and learners. Indigo’s funding is to be used to help develop more content, which we hope can be used to reinforce learning and provide a stimulating, challenging and fun way of accessing secondary level education.
