Nairobi’s iHub-Encouraging Open Innovation in Kenya

I had a fantastic converation with Jessica Colaco, manager of Nairobi’s iHub, which opened this year.  The iHub brings together stakeholders from throughout the tech community including software developers, researchers, designers, academics and industry, with the aim of encouraging open innovation and providing a physical access point for entrepreneurs.  Its construction was funded by Ushahidi, with Grameen Foundation funding.

They have hosted over 100 events, attracting an international audience.  They have also  recently won a bid to set up the first mobile phone incubator lab in Africa, which they hope will also stimulate communication with the telecoms industry.

Has anyone used the iHub’s virtual or physical space?  If so, I would love to hear your experiences.
